When you visit Japan, Shakey’s Pizza Dinner Buffet is worth checking out especially when you want to eat yummy pizza on a budget (Adult 1,650 YEN). Depending on the location, some branches offer the all-you-can-eat or per order basis.
What makes this Shakey’s restaurant very attractive to me is its vintage rustic style facade. I love anything with vintage feel. They have a collection of eye-catching vintage photographs. Plus, the overall ambiance is just very relaxing.
The only disadvantage here is that the restaurant gets very busy and crowded once the Dinner Buffet or an “All-you-can-eat” start, which is at 5:00 p.m. High Frequent patrons of this restaurant are high school students. Similar to other establishments in Japan, you have to pay first before the staff ushers you to your seats.
You’ll notice that there are 2 sections: the Pasta and Salad (rice, soup, curry) section and the Pizzas section — Mayonnaise Sauce Pizzas (shrimp, beef and pepper), Original Sauce (beef and onion, bacon and cheddar, and other meat and sausages), Salsa Pomodore (calamari and olive, pickled beef), Limited Edition Pizzas (varies), and their amazing balls Dessert Pizza.
Near the counter is the beverage section where they also serve unlimited coffee. That’s why when my best gal Mica flew to Tokyo a couple of weeks ago to visit me, we couldn’t let her miss the fun. She’s a coffee person and she loved the fact that Shakey’s serves unlimited coffee.
From time to time, there will be a line forming by the pizza buffet so it’s best to line up here first while there are less people. After all, it’s Pizza All You Can!
My personal favorite pizzas are all in the Salsa Pomodore and Original Sauce section. Dessert Pizzas are often rarely touched by customers, perhaps they find it weird too? When it comes to food, I am very adventurous. I tried everything in the dessert pizza section and surprisingly, they are not bad! I love the cinnamon apple dessert pizza.
While my husband and Mica were indulging in pasta, I was indulging the rich fried potatoes and dessert pizzas.
There are over 25 Shakey’s Pizza Restaurant in Japan but their prices and Dinner Buffet availability depends on the location. Some Shakey’s Restaurant Dinner Buffet are on per order basis. To spot the real buffet style, a self-serve, don’t be afraid to enter the restaurant and check if there’s a buffet table.
The branch where we ate is just a 5-minute walk from the Yokohama Station, heading to the West Exit. Look for the Don Quijote store first as they are on the same road.
