Amazing View of Tokyo Dome Winter Illumination

It sucks when your salary came right after Christmas! I was totally broke during the holidays that I hadn’t yet bought my husband a Christmas present. It was only the day after Christmas when we finally decided to get out somewhere and observe Japan’s customary post-Christmas. Since Light Festivals or Winter Illumination events are everywhere in Japan, I scrubbed the interweb and looked for amazing light shows or illuminations in Tokyo. It turned out that most illumination events were only until December 25th especially in the Western Tokyo area (Shinjuku and Shibuya).

Until I came across a very useful website which listed Winter Illuminations around Tokyo. With so many places to choose from, I narrowed it down to places I had never been before and ended up with Tokyo Dome City, a leisure center famous for Tokyo Dome baseball stadium, amusement park, LaQua spa, and the very modernized Tokyo Dome Hotel.

The Tokyo Dome City’s Winter Illumination is themed “Promenade of Light.” It features an amazing 2.2 million LEDs around the area and an Ultraman-themed embellishments in the “Ultraman Road.” There were also a number of gigantic 6-meter Christmas Trees standing near the fountain shows of LaQua Complex. Walking around at night was extremely cold so bundle up when you go out here!

And since it was very cold, we decided to have ramen for dinner. The Noodle Bar is a fancy ramen restaurant with a nice interior and counter. I tried their Special Shoyu Ramen while my husband tried the Miso Ramen. It was a nice customer service experience but we were both disappointed with the ramen, the gyoza was good though. The price was also not reasonable compared to other ramen shops. I learned that they have several branches in Tokyo, but after the food experience, we would try to avoid this restaurant chain as possible.
